An Original Vintage Theatrical 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" Movie Still (Learn More) Raintree County, the 1957 Edward Dmytryk Civil War romantic love triangle melodrama ("MGM presents in MGM Camera 65 'Window of the World' 'Raintree County' In the great tradition of Civil War romance"; "Based on the Novel by Ross Lockridge Jr."; about a man trapped in a loveless marriage, and he gets reacquainted with his childhood sweetheart, set against the backdrop of the Civil War) starring Montgomery Clift, Elizabeth Taylor (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Eva Marie Saint, Nigel Patrick, Lee Marvin, Rod Taylor, Agnes Moorehead, Walter Abel, Jarma Lewis, and Tom Drake. Note that during filming, Montgomery Clift was in a horrific car accident after leaving Elizabeth Taylor's house one evening (she and Rock Hudson reportedly pulled him from the wreck, and Taylor saved him from choking on his own teeth!). Sadly, despite several surgeries to his face, Clift's injuries were still visible, and his health deteriorated after the crash. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the still shows a great candid image of Elizabeth Taylor sitting in a lounge chair by her swimming pool! Also note that there is a paper snipe glued on the back of the still that describes the scene on the front (it does not affect the front of the still). The snipe describes the famous break in production of this movie that occurred when Montgomery Clift had his major car accident, and they held up filming on the movie until he recovered enough to finish the movie. The still measures 7 1/2" x 9 1/2", but it does not appear to be trimmed. Finally, note that there is a distribution date stamped on the back of the still (it reads "AUG 21 1956"). Condition: good to very good. There is a faint diagonal crease that starts in the middle left of the still and runs up into Taylor's hair (it was truthfully not very distracting).
