An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Mr. Adam, the 1933 Al Christie nudist colony screwball comedy starring Ernest Truex (in the title role as Mr. Adam), Frances Halliday, Harry Miller, Harry Short, and Jean Lacy. Note that this is a VERY mysterious comedy short! The only movie paper item from it we have ever seen is the one-sheet and a still, and the still has a snipe attached which says that it is a "new Educational Comedy", where "Ernest Truex is a modest and unwilling recruit in a nudists (sic) camp". Yet no place on the Internet is this movie listed, and yet we found a newspaper ad from November 9, 1934, which has the movie playing at a theater! We also found reference to a different short about nudists called "The Nudists; or, Back to the Sun", which was denied an exhibition permit due to its almost nudity, and in that reference, the producers of this short said that scenes from their short had been used in "Mr. Adam", which had been given a permit, so they thought they should have one too. Maybe this movie played in 1933 and 1934, and then was withdrawn due to the controversy over its almost nudity, but we still don't know why that would mean that it isn't listed anywhere! If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have only once before auctioned this one-sheet, and that was 24 years ago, when it sold for $345 (and this may be the same poster coming back to us many years later!). The only other movie paper item we have ever auctioned from this movie was a single still (see our description above).

Condition: good to very good. There is 8" of separation and small paper loss in the center of the bottom fold with 1" of separation and small paper loss at the other folds. The poster was folded in half an extra time resulting in a light vertical foldline at left and right and there are tack holes around the edges.
