An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 7" x 9 3/4" [18 x 25 cm]; 2 pages) (Learn More)

Keep 'Em Flying, the 1941 Arthur Lubin pre-World War II (WWII) military United States Army Air Corps Air Force airplane aviation pilot screwball comedy ("Those big guns o' fun in a roaring salute to the Army Air Corps"; "You'll Bail out of your seat Laughing!"; "Original Story by Edmund L. Hartmann"; about a pair of bumbling stunt pilots who join the Army Air Corps) starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello (Abbott and Costello), Martha Raye, Carol Bruce, William Gargan, Dick Foran, Charles Lang, and The Six Hits (a singing group that changed its number of members, and occasionally had a female member, at which point they would become "...and a Miss"). Note that this was Abbott and Costello's sixth movie together in a short time, and this time, The Andrews Sisters were not in the cast, but Martha Raye was. The timing for the movie was good, because it was made just weeks before Pearl Harbor, and of course, cinemas would soon be flooded with war movies!

Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned an example of this herald!

This is one of a collection of 9 rare heralds from the late 1930s and early 1940s (in 9 separate auctions). Many of them are ones we have either never auctioned before or only auctioned once or twice. The heralds were all printed in the U.S., but were mostly used in theaters in Egypt, so most have overprinting on the back for an Egyptian movie theater. Also, almost all of the heralds have tiny circular holes scattered in the image (sometimes very few, sometimes more). We strongly suggest you look closely at our images of the fronts and backs of these rare heralds before bidding on them, so you can see the location of the tiny circular holes or larger paper loss. We previously auctioned a number of heralds from this same collection, and while there are more left from this collection, all the best titles will have been auctioned after this set of auctions, and likely the remaining ones, which are from lesser movies, will be auctioned in bulk lots.

Condition: fair to good. There are around six tiny circular holes scattered in the herald, along with two thin strips of paper loss within the image. See above for more about the condition of this herald and please look at our super-sized images of both sides before bidding.
