An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded British Quad Movie Poster (BQ; Quad Crown; measures 26 1/2" x 39" [67 x 99 cm]) (Learn More) Star Wars (now known as "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope"), the classic 1977 George Lucas (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) outer space fantasy action adventure science fiction (sci-fi) epic ("A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..."; "George Lucas, the man who brought you American Graffiti now brings you an adventure as big as the cosmos itself: Star Wars, the story of a boy, a girl, and a universe. It's a spectacle light years ahead of its time from 20th Century Fox."; "Written and Directed by George Lucas"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Mark Hamill (as Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (as Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (as Princess Leia), Peter Cushing (as Grand Moff Tarkin), Alec Guinness (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Obi-Wan Kenobi), Anthony Daniels (as C-3PO), James Earl Jones (as the voice of Darth Vader), David Prowse (billed as "Dave Prowse"; as the man inside the Darth Vader suit!), Peter Mayhew (as Chewbacca), Kenny Baker (as R2-D2), and Phil Brown (as Uncle Owen) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Tom William Chantrell Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 26 1/2" x 39" [67 x 99 cm]. IT WAS TRIMMED ON THE LEFT BY APPROXIMATELY 1", ON THE BOTTOM BY APPROXIMATELY 1", AND ON THE TOP BY APPROXIMATELY 2 1/2". This could be because it was used in the London Underground (British quad experts tell us that many quads from this time period measure around 27" x 40" because that was the size used in the London Underground). BUT BECAUSE THIS POSTER WAS TRIMMED BY MORE THAN THAT, WE DON'T THINK IT WAS NECESSARILY USED THAT WAY, AND MAYBE SOMEONE JUST TRIMMED IT FOR ANOTHER REASON. So this is a very significant defect, and you should bear it in mind before bidding (but this is the pre-Awards British quad, and it will still display nicely on the new owner's wall, even though it has part of the image trimmed from the left and top). Note also that this is one of three British quads that were created for the 1977 release of this classic movie. In 1978, when the movie was still in first release in England, a new quad was prepared with the same Chantrell artwork as one of the earlier three quads, but with information about the awards it had won. Offered here is a "pre-Awards" British quad from 1977. Condition: fair. The poster was originally 30" x 40" and was trimmed on the left, top, and bottom. See above for what was exactly done to the poster and what is missing. This is a very significant defect, and you should bear it in mind before bidding! Learn More about condition grades
