Date Sold 7/30/2024 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 8 Original Vintage Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) What a Guy, the 1948 all-black-cast comedy ("with the stars of 'Anna Lucasta' in the laff comedy of the year!") starring Mantan Moreland, Monte Hawley, Lawrence Criner, Ruby Dee (she is pictured twice on the lobby card, with her name under the artwork image of her!), Jouhn Bouie, and Laurence Criner. Note that a knowledgeable collector tell us that this movie, along with three other Moreland vehicles, was produced by Lucky Star Productions. The problem with race films was finding exhibitors to get the product in appropriate theaters for intended viewers. Toddy had a lot of experience in this and a positive image with the African-American movie theater circuit, so this film went out under the Toddy banner for maximum exposure. Condition: very good. The cards are in pretty nice condition and they have no tape whatsoever on the front or back, and they never have had any restoration of any kind!
