An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures 13 1/2" x 30" [34 x 76 cm]) (Learn More) Our Hearts Were Growing Up, the 1946 William D. Russell Roaring Twenties romantic college melodrama sequel ("More Delightful Adventures of Those 'Young and Gay' Girls!"; "More fun than 'Our Hearts Were Young and Gay'"; "Based on a story by Frank Waldman") romantic comedy starring Gail Russell, Diana Lynn, Brian Donlevy, Billy De Wolfe, William Demarest, James Brown (NOT the famous singer, and NOT the famous football player!), and Bill Edwards. Note that this movie was a sequel to "Our Hearts Were Young and Gay", made two years earlier. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Richardson Studio Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned three examples of this Australian daybill, and only one in the last 19 years. The buyer of one of those examples had the poster linenbacked, and they have now reconsigned it to us, so this is still only one of three examples we have ever auctioned! Note that this is one of an amazing collection of 62 linenbacked Australian daybills that all have great art from Richardson Studio (or John Richardson, before he became "Richardson Studio"!), which many collectors feel have the best art and design of any Australian daybills, and are highly sought after by collectors. These were accumulated by a very dedicated collector over many years, and they are now being all offered at once (in 62 separate auctions), so this is a wonderful opportunity to obtain one or many of these daybills, many of which rarely are offered for sale or at auction. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster was likely found under a floor, and there was a pattern over the top of the poster and in the middle right, that might have been created by a carpet, and there was some sort of ink transfer over the lower left, which was likely caused by coming into contact with another poster and moisture causing the ink transfer. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
