Van Dyke historical French Revolution France biography romantic melodrama ("The crowning glory of the screen!"; "Based in Part on the Book by Stefan Zweig"; according to IMDB, F. Scott Fitzgerald was an uncredited writer for this film; obviously, the screenwriters took great liberties with actual history and this is very fictionalized) starring Norma Shearer (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Marie Antoinette), Tyrone Power Jr., John Barrymore (as King Louis XV), Robert Morley (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as King Louis XVI), Anita Louise, Joseph Schildkraut, Gladys George (as Mme. du Barry), Henry Stephenson, Scotty Beckett, and Cora Witherspoon NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
