He was a major silent star, surely best remembered for his role as Messala in the 1925 version of "Ben-Hur". He continued acting for many years! Some of his movies include: The Return of Richard Neal (in the title role), Thoroughbreds Don't Cry, Sabrina, and The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini. Note that Bushman was the original "King of the Movies" before that label was attached to Clark Gable! Bushman passed away in 1966 at the age of 83. Important Added Info: The postcard has been personally autographed (signed) by Francis X. Bushman! It was nicely matted with a REPRODUCTION still to create a cool display that is ready to hang on the wall! The top mat is not attached to the back mat, which is a plus, because it means you can see the back of both items (because they were attached to the back of the top mat, which we have photographed; see our image). Our consignor is a longtime collector who acquired this autograph and then had it matted with the additional item. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. Our consignor is a longtime collector of movie posters who purchased this item years ago, and it was signed, but he doesn't know how the signatures were obtained, and he (and we) believe it is likely that the autographs are authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good.
