She refused to retire, and took out a famous ad in Variety seeking work (citing her two Oscars!), and she starred in What Ever Happened To Baby Jane? (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film) and Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte in the 1960s. Some of her other movies include: Dangerous (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Jezebel (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Now, Voyager (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Of Human Bondage, Star (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Mr. Skeffington (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Little Foxes (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Letter (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Dark Victory (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film) and too many others to list! She passed away in 1989 at the age of 81. Important Added Info: Note that our consignor purchased this makeup stand at the "Out of the Closets and Into the Street" event in 1992, which was billed as "A Celebrity Flea Market", where stars donated furniture, costumes, and memorabilia to benefit Project Angel Food, which donated meals to people with AIDS. This makeup stand was donated by Chuck Pollock, and, as noted in the letter our consignor was given, which was written by David K. Polanco and Guido J. Ortenzio, Mr. Pollock, who had lived with Bette Davis and escorted her to many events, described the table in this way: "Bette Davis used this makeup stand from approximately the late 1930s through the late 1970s, including during the filming of Now Voyager, The Little Foxes, All About Eve, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane, and more." Our consignor paid $1,407.25 for the stand in 1992, and kept it until his recent passing, and now it is being auctioned. Note that it is quite large (but it can be disassembled) and will need to be sent via truck in two large cartons, so bear in mind the cost of shipping, and incorporate that in the amount you bid. Included with the table is the placard that was by the stand at the auction. The letter written to our consignor, his receipt when he paid for it, and two photos of the stand at the auction, and one copy of a vintage photo showing Miss Davis, in approximately the 1960s, smoking by the stand. Note: We have 11 images of the items in this set, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 11 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 1. Condition: very good. We took many pictures of this stand from different viewpoints, so you can both see exactly what it looks like and also tell its condition. It was obviously made to serve its function, without any frills. Please look at our pictures before bidding on this auction. Learn More about condition grades
