Date Sold 12/13/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Key Largo, the 1948 John Huston crime film noir ("Killer against killer, gun to gun, on the hot spot of the Florida Keys!"; "A cast as explosive as its story!"; "You'll see the performances of your life in the hit of their lives!"; set in the Florida Keys during a hurricane!; based on the hit play by Maxwell Anderson) starring Humphrey Bogart, Edward G. Robinson, Lauren Bacall, Lionel Barrymore, Claire Trevor (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Thomas Gomez, John Rodney, Dan Seymour, Harry Lewis, and Marc Lawrence. Note that this was the final movie in which Humphrey Bogart co-starred with Lauren Bacall. They first met during the filming of "To Have and Have Not" in 1944, and then were married in 1945. They re-teamed for "The Big Sleep" in 1946, and then made "Dark Passage" the following year. They teamed again in for this movie in 1948, but they did not make another movie together, likely having a lot to do with their having two children. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never before auctioned this first release insert! Not only that, but first release posters from this title are ALL extremely rare (likely because the movie had TWO quick re-releases, in 1953 AND 1956, which would have used up all the first release paper that remained). We have only auctioned a single half-sheet, and that was 11 years ago, and only three one-sheets in all our years of auctioning. Also note that this poster has never been folded! Some pre-1970 insert posters were folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 insert posters (note that most post-1970 inserts were NOT folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those inserts). Condition: very good. The poster was never folded, but it was slightly roughly handled when it was rolled, which resulted in three 6" creases near the center of the poster, scattered in the bottom half, and a light 10" crease near the top of the poster, running through the top of Bacall's credit. The poster has a 1" tear in the center of the bottom border. It has some creases, smudges, and faint stains in the outer edges of the blank borders. The poster can certainly be displayed and enjoyed exactly as it is, or some people might choose to have it restored, perhaps "gel backing" the poster, since its defects are so relatively minor. Either way, the new owner of this poster will have an extremely rare and desirable poster to display on their wall! Learn More about condition grades
