Date Sold 6/12/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Adventures of Don Juan (also released as "The New Adventures of Don Juan"), the 1949 Vincent Sherman swashbuckler romantic adventure thriller ("He made history when he made love!"; "Warner Bros. unfolds a new screen era in breathless adventure!"; "Warner Bros. open a new screen era in splendor!"; note that IMDB lists William Faulkner as an uncredited writer for this movie) starring Errol Flynn (in the title role as Don Juan), Viveca Lindfors (as Queen Margaret), Robert Douglas, Alan Hale Sr., Romney Brent, Ann Rutherford, Raymond Burr (early in his career, and 16th billed!), and Jerry Austin (a "little person" who had a tiny role in "Freaks" in 1932, and then made four small movie appearances in the late 1940s). Note that Raymond Burr had appeared in movies a couple of years before this, but always had minor roles, usually playing the "heavy". It would be many years before he would get leading roles (remember him as the killer in "Rear Window"?), but his big break did not come until 1957 when he became TV's "Perry Mason"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this lobby card has been personally autographed (signed) by director Vincent Sherman! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Note that this signed lobby card (and 63 others) comes from the collection of the late Bob Colman, owner of the Hollywood Poster Exchange store in Los Angeles for decades. What made this store so wonderful for collectors was that Mr. Colman sold the legendary "Cozy Theatre" collection, which he purchased (with a partner) in 1968, and it took over 30 years for him to sell the contents of that single collection, and many of the items contained in it were stamped with "Cozy Theatre" on the back, so they are easily identifiable today. But Mr. Colman was also well known for having Hollywood celebrities shop at his store, where they would often look to purchase items from movies they had appeared in. When a celebrity would come in, Mr. Colman would locate a lobby card from his inventory and ask the celebrity to sign it. Sometimes they would personalize it to him, sometimes to his wife, Janet, and sometimes they would simply sign their name. This lobby card comes from the estate of Bob Colman and was signed by the celebrity in his presence, and personalized to Mr. Colman. We do not have a certificate of authenticity, but we are certain the autograph is genuine (and the lobby card has great provenance)! As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: good to very good. There is smudging over some partial erased pencil writing in the left of the top border and pinholes at top center. There are two pieces of tape on the back of the center of two borders, but they were not put there for any restoration purpose. Learn More about condition grades
