There were three incredibly successful movies starring Buster Crabbe in the title role in 1936, 1938, and 1940, Flash Gordon, Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars, and Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe. The character became widely known and has been used in a wide variety of media, including motion pictures, serials, television, and animated series. Important Added Info: Note that in the 1930s, Whitman Publishing had great success with "Big Little Books", and the similar "Better Little Books", which were tiny books that each had an image on one side and text on the other.
