An Unfolded S2 Re-Creation One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Edgar Allan Poe's Murders in the Rue Morgue, the 1932 Robert Florey Universal crime horror mystery thriller ("The Super Shocker"; "Based on the Edgar Allan Poe's Murders in the Rue Morgue"; set in Paris) starring Bela Lugosi (billed as "Dracula himself"; as Dr. Mirakle), Sidney Fox (billed as "Star of 'Strictly Dishonorable'"), Leon Ames (billed as "Leon Waycoff"), Bert Roach, Brandon Hurst, Noble Johnson (as Janos, The Black One), D'arcy Corrigan, Arlene Francis, Iron Eyes Cody, Joe Bonomo (famous early strongman, as one of the gorillas, and he also played a gorilla in 1929's "King of the Kongo"!), and Charles Gemora (as Erik the Gorilla; and amazingly, he reprised this role when the movie was remade by Warner Bros in 1954, 22 years later!). Note that this movie is considered to have been the consolation prize for Florey and Lugosi after they were replaced as director and star on "Frankenstein" by Universal. Note that starting in 1929 and continuing into the 1940s, Charles Gemora played gorillas in many movies, likely because he owned a gorilla suit, and could do a somewhat convincing job portraying a gorilla. Just a few years later, Ray 'Crash' Corrigan would also start playing gorillas, and no doubt they competed for roles in every movie requiring a gorilla! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a poster from the "S2 Art Group". This company bought 100 year-old lithograph presses, completely refurbished them, and recreated stone litho printing plates for classic movie posters (and in some cases making a stone litho version of a poster that was not originally a stone litho!). They were printed in exactly the same way the posters were originally printed (re-creating them down to the finest detail within the art, and even including the tiny writing from the bottom of the poster). These posters were printed between 1997 and 2003, and were NOT printed when the movies were originally released. It is super high quality and measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm] (Learn More).
