An American Romance, the 1944 King Vidor immigration romantic melodrama ("MGM's Mighty Technicolor Drama!"; "Out of the sinews of the nation, out of its ambitions and dreams, a success story, a love story to thrill and inspire!"; set at the turn of the 20th century, and the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, it is a rags-to-riches story with a hero who is part Andrew Carnegie, and part Henry Ford, and he rises from working in an ore mine to becoming a major automobile manufacturer) starring Brian Donlevy, Ann Richards, Walter Abel, John Qualen, Stephen McNally (billed as "Horace McNally"), and Bob Lowell
