An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded English Three-Sheet (called a 6sh in England) Movie Poster (3sh; measures 40" x 88 1/2" [102 x 225 cm]) (Learn More)

The Star of Bethlehem, the 1912 Lawrence Marston Thanhouser silent religious melodrama biblical short ("Behold the hand maid of the Lord be unto me according to thy word") starring Florence La Badie (as Mary), James Cruze (as Micah/Joseph), William Russell (as Herod), Harry Benham (as Angel Gabriel), and Justus D. Barnes (as Gaspar, a Magi). Note that film buffs know of James Cruze as a major director of the 1920s, but very few know that he was a very active actor from 1911 to 1919, appearing in over 100 movies, including this one, where he played a lead role as Joseph. This was in his second year of acting, and in 1919, he mostly quit acting and directed full time, and was responsible for many of the top 1920s movies, including The Covered Wagon.
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a different example of this English three-sheet (which sold for $435) from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this second English three-sheet!

Note that this English three-sheet measures 40" x 88 1/2" [102 x 225 cm]. Also note that this English three-sheet was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap.

Condition: good. The poster is fragile and it has separation, tears, and tiny paper loss on parts of some folds and in the borders. But the poster is "all there", and after linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster will look fantastic, and it will likely require little paint restoration within the image.
