A 1955 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) The Petty Girl (also released as "Girl of the Year"), the 1950 Henry Levin romantic pin-up artist comedy ("The most beautiful girls in Hollywood!"; "More gorgeous than ever in color by Technicolor"; "An alluring curvaceous sex-tette that has Youth Love Laughter Music Dancing Excitement"; "introducing the 12 Glamorous Petty Girls"; a fictionalized biography of George Petty; he meets a pretty professor and wants her to pose for him, and she refuses, but he won't take no for an answer) starring Robert Cummings (Bob Cummings; as famed pin-up artist George Petty), Joan Caulfield (in the title role as Victoria Braymore), Elsa Lanchester, Melville Cooper, Audrey Long, "and introducing The 12 Glamorous Calendar Girls". Note that George Petty cooperated in the making of the movie and provided art for the advertising! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this card was paperbacked by well-known poster restorer Dario Casadei! In the wake of the Universal horror fake scandal, Dario was looking for a way to back lobby cards where you could still see the original back of the card, and this card was his test example. He took a really nice condition card and backed it onto archival technical paper that is translucent and attached it with a combination of wheat paste and Jade R archival glues. His thinking was that when people could see the back of the card clearly (even though it was backed), it would greatly help them see what restoration had been done to the front. Because he has been so busy since he first backed this card, this is still the only card he has ever backed in this way, and this is the first time such a card has EVER been to auction! I hope he pursues backing in this way, because I completely agree with him that it is super helpful for collectors to be able to see the back of a restored lobby card (but of course, unscrupulous dealers and auction houses will hate this technique!). Also note that the lobby card says "A Columbia Reprint" at middle right. This was a terminology used by Columbia Pictures at this time for some re-releases, and it has caused some collectors to be confused! This lobby card is an original card from the 1955 re-release of this movie, and is NOT a "reprint"! Condition: very good to fine. The card was paperbacked in a new way as a test by restorer Dario Casadei . The card was in nice condition prior to paperbacking (he just wanted to test the process), except for a small tear in the center of the bottom border. Learn More about condition grades
