An Original Vintage Spanish Campaign Book (measures 9 1/2" x 12 1/4" [24 x 31 cm]; 40 pages) (Learn More) First National 1927-28, the 1927 Spanish campaign book sent to theater owners to encourage them to show First National movies. The book is filled with 1-page and 2-page ads for then current First National releases (most of which are U.S. movies being released in Spain), and each page or two pages advertises either stars or upcoming movies, a few of which are in color. Some of the many great stars advertised include Colleen Moore, Harry Langdon, Ken Maynard, Billie Dove, Constance and Norma Talmadge, and many more. Prior to being consigned this campaign book, we had only ever auctioned four Spanish campaign books from the 1920s (like this one), and eight Spanish campaign books from the 1930s, so clearly they are extremely rare, likely far more so than the U.S. versions, which are themselves very rare! Not only have we never auctioned the U.S. version of this campaign book, but we have never auctioned any U.S. First National campaign books from before 1931! Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this Spanish campaign book from 1927/28, and, as noted above, before this, we had only ever auctioned four other Spanish campaign books from the 1920s.
