An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Movie Window Card (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Sadie McKee, the 1934 Clarence Brown poor-girl-marries-mega-rich-husband romantic love triangle melodrama ("I gave 10c worth of love for a $17,000,000 husband!"; "Vina Delmar's sensational Liberty Magazine serial story comes to the screen!"; Crawford is the daughter of a cook for rich people who wants more out of life, and she has relationships with three men, including the alcoholic millionaire she marries, that lets her achieve her dreams) starring Joan Crawford (in the title role as Sadie McKee), Franchot Tone, Gene Raymond, Edward Arnold, Esther Ralston, Akim Tamiroff, Gene Austin, Leo G. Carroll, and Helen Ware. Note that this was one of the first movies where Joan Crawford dominated the movie, and she had great hairstyles and outfits, and she became that rare female star who could "carry" a movie on her own, without an equally strong male star! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this window card! Note that the card measures very slightly under 14" x 22" (an extremely tiny amount in each direction!) and has no left, right, or bottom blank borders, but it has NOT been trimmed (this was done at a time when MGM was experimenting with having as few borders as possible). Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a heavy paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. Prior to paperbacking, the window card had tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss around the edges, with some creases, smudges, and scuffs scattered in the image. Overall, the window card was in good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
