Rope of Sand, the 1949 William Dieterle desert romantic adventure crime film noir melodrama ("Savage Greed...Sultry Love...Wild Adventure!"; "The first great story of the dark continent's diamond country!"; about a man who is abused by a sadistic mining company cop before he can tell where on their desert property he'd found diamonds, so he decides to steal them instead) starring Burt Lancaster, Paul Henreid, Claude Rains, Peter Lorre, Sam Jaffe, and Corinne Calvet (billed as "introducing Corinne Calvet")
