An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More)

The Hottentot, the 1922 Del Andrews & James W. Horne silent horse racing jockey sports mistaken identity comedy ("under personal supervision of Thomas H. Ince"; about a young man who has the same name as a famous steeplechase jockey, and after being mistaken for the famous jockey, he starts posing as him, wearing racing clothes, but then he is called on to substitute in a real steeplechase race, and of course he is given a ferocious horse to ride named "Hottentot"!) starring Douglas MacLean, Madge Bellamy, Lila Leslie, Truly Shattuck, and Martin Best

Condition: very good. The poster had a 3" x 2" area of paper loss in the top right corner, which extended into the top of the horse's rein, but was otherwise blank white paper. There was small paper loss at the top two crossfolds, and creases and a few scuffs on the foldlines. There were a few scuffs in the background areas, and some minor border defects. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see some signs of the restoration of the above defects. Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster.
