An Original Vintage One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh) (Learn More)

This is the Life, the 1944 Felix E. Feist World War II (WWII) romantic love triangle comedy ("Romeo O'Connor is up to his neckin' with joy!"; "Those tri-tanic fun stars of 'Top Man'...."; "Based on a Stage Play written by Sinclair Lewis and Fay Wray"; about a young lady who is in love with a young man, but he is in love with another young lady, and she is in love with still another person!) starring Donald O'Connor, Susanna Foster, Peggy Ryan, Louise Allbritton, Patric Knowles, The Bobby Brooks Quartette, and Anne Rooney. Note that this unusual movie was based on a 1939 stage play "Agatha is Twenty-Two", which was written by Sinclair Lewis when he was having an affair with actress Fay Wray! Wray had a history of being romantically involved with troubled authors, including John Monk Saunders and Clifford Odets. We had difficulty finding any information about where this play was first produced, but it does not appear to have played on Broadway. It was resurrected five years later as the basis for this 1944 movie, and was given a World War II subplot, and it ends with Donald O'Connor patriotically enlisting in the army. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
