Al G. Barnes & Sells-Floto Combined Circus was created in the late 1930s after John Ringling (owner of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus) purchased the company that owned both the Al G. Barnes Circus and the Sells-Floto Circus, and combined them to save money during the Great Depression.
