An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) City Lights, the classic 1931 Charlie Chaplin silent romantic comedy melodrama (written and directed by Charles Chaplin; Chaplin is a Tramp who befriends a blind flower seller, and he loves her, but is afraid she can't return his love; the movie includes a memorable boxing scene, and a wonderful final scene where the girl is cured of her blindness) starring Charles Chaplin, Virginia Cherrill, Florence Lee, Harry Myers, Al Ernest Garcia, and Hank Mann. Note that Charlie Chaplin stood alone against the coming of sound to movies, and he made this movie as a silent movie, although it had a soundtrack which included the song "Smile", which Chaplin himself wrote. He would release another silent movie, "Modern Times", in 1936, and then finally agreed to make sound pictures! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: very good to fine. The poster has light brown water stains in the lower right blank border. There are some scuff marks in the top left corner (extending into part of the "C" in "Charlie" and "CHAPLIN").
