the "faux" lobby card set created by a long time collector who made several faux sets in his spare time. He was inspired by the "Fantasy #9" lobby cards created several decades ago, each of which is from a classic horror/sci-fi movie, showing a great scene that wasn't in the original set! He used top images from each film, and he did not make them through a computer program, but instead pasted together actual prints to create mock-ups. This set portrays a double-bill release ("Vincent Price brings you a Phibeulous double dose of terror") of The Abominable Doctor Phibes, the 1971 Robert Fuest U.S./English mad scientist horror mystery thriller ("Love means never having to say you're ugly."; "Dr. Phibes has great vibes."; "He planned 9 of the world's most horribly ingenious murders"; "The authorities will not permit this face to be shown on advertisements"; "Behind every successful man is a woman... Behind Anton Phibes was the lovely Vulnavia, winding him up, plugging him in, cleaning his electrodes and changing his oil. Without her Phibes couldn't have committed one dinky little MURDER."; "Dr. Phibes has Great Vibes and complete dedication to his lifework, which is MURDER in the Nth Degree. Lovely Vulnavia [right] is his cheerful sidekick who cleans his electrodes, checks his oil, plugs him in and turns him on. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of 30 "faux" lobby card sets we were consigned, which we are auctioning in 30 separate auctions! WHAT ARE THESE? We were consigned 68 similar faux lobby sets (but entirely different images and titles), which were created in 2021 by a long time collector who (like so many of us) chose to stay home that year a lot due to Covid, and he made those 68 faux sets to help pass the time! He was inspired by the "Fantasy #9" lobby cards created several decades ago, each of which is from a classic horror/sci-fi movie, showing a great scene that wasn't in the original set!

He created those 68 sets, using top images from each film! He did not make them through a computer program, but instead pasted together actual prints to create mock-ups. On most of these he made 8 card sets, but on some of them he created sets with odd quantities (as low as 4, and as high as 26 cards!). He then printed just THREE of each set, and he promised not to reprint them (and he has not). He numbered the first card in each set, and what we offered was the "1 of 3" of each set, which meant there are only two other sets of each, and there will never be more of those.

Our consignor told us that he would keep one of the three sets of each, but MAY give us the remaining third set at a later time to auction. But the winner of those 68 auctions have just one of three of these numbered sets that were created! TWICE IN 2023, THE SAME CONSIGNOR CREATED FIRST 47 AND THEN 41 ADDITIONAL SETS! Those were just like the first 68 sets, except all different titles and images. We auctioned those then, and now we are auctioning an additional 30 sets this consignor just created, and again we are auctioning the number 1 of 3 of each set (in 30 separate auctions) AND (as with the last three groups of these he created) OUR CONSIGNOR AGAIN PROMISES TO NEVER REPRINT THESE! So once again this is a great chance to get any of these really cool faux lobby sets!
