An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Lobby Card (Learn More) Pearl of the Army, the 1916 Edward Jose silent World War I (WWI) spy espionage serial starring Pearl White ( in the title role; famous star of the most memorable silent serial The Perils of Pauline), Floyd Buckley, William T. Carleton, Marie Wayne, Theodore Friebus, and Joe Cuny. This film was believed lost, but it was rediscovered in the amazing find of 500 lost films in 1978. Note that Pearl White is of course the most famous female silent serial star, but after many injuries from her roles, she decided that she wanted to quit serials, and she turned to "serious acting", but she became addicted to painkillers, and she retired in 1924 and passed away in 1938, when she was just 49. Important Added Info: Note that, in the early days of movie making, when lobby cards were first made (around 1915), studios would issue sets of the cards in two sizes; the regular 11" x 14" size, and a smaller 8" x 10" size. The cards were identical in every way except for the different size. This practice continued through the early 1920s, at which point the studios abandoned the smaller lobby cards, likely because theaters either ordered 11" x 14" lobby cards or 8" x 10" stills, and did not order enough of the 8" x 10" lobby cards to justify them continuing to make them. Condition: very good to fine. The card is in very nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
