NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an incredibly rare poster! We have never auctioned it before. If the image looks familiar to you, it is because there have been numerous repros of it sold all over the world. We wondered why it does not have RKO on the poster, and whether that meant it is a re-release, and so we asked all of the world's leading experts on Belgian posters for their opinion. All of them said that they believe that this is the first release Belgian Citizen Kane poster, and that there never was a poster with RKO on it (and that none of them had ever seen or heard of such a poster). Considering that all the other Belgian repros that are sold were reproduced from the first release posters, it seems certain that the repros of this poster would have been from an earlier poster, if there were one, so that is even more reason to think this is surely the first release. The experts we consulted think that by the time this movie was released in Belgium in 1948 or 1949, RKO had likely pretty much given up on it, and that they simply sold the Belgian distribution rights to another company. Not only have we (and all the experts) never seen an earlier version of this poster, but we have also never seen another example of THIS poster before, and it certainly has a wonderful image! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good to fine. The poster was folded across the middle and folded 1" from the bottom of the top blank area, and there was very minor wear on both folds. There was a tiny pinhole in each top corner. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
