A 1951 Realart Re-Release Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Frankenstein, the classic 1931 James Whale Universal monster horror thriller ("The monster that terrorized the world!"; "The Man Who Made a Monster"; "Warning! The monster is loose!"; "Based upon the Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Story"; "Adapted by John L. Balderston from the play by Peggy Webling"; the first of the Universal "Frankenstein" movies, and regarded as one of the finer movies of any genre, in large part due to the marvelous acting of Boris Karloff, and the marvelous direction of James Whale!) starring Colin Clive (as Dr. Herbert V. Frankenstein), Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Edward Van Sloan, Fredric Kerr, Mae Clarke, Dwight Frye (extremely memorable as Fritz), and John Boles NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Who among us can afford the zillion dollar 1931 original title card from this horror classic? To me, this 1951 re-release, with an excellent different image with more color than the original, makes a very attractive alternative! Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card has darkened, except in a circular area in each blank corner, where there was a thumb tack, so the card did not darken under the tack, and there is a small hole in the center of each circle. There is surface paper loss in the bottom left corner, affecting the word "COUNTRY", but not the image, and there is small paper loss in the center of the bottom border (there was a 1 1/2" tear above that small paper loss, and someone put a piece of tape on the back of that area, and it is almost invisible from the front). There is tiny paper loss in the right of the bottom border. There is part of a label glued to the center of the top border, with some creases in the top border to the right of that and staple holes in the left and right of the top blank border. There are a few dot stains in the right blank border. The image area is in pretty nice condition. Certainly, one could choose to have restoration performed to the border defects described above, but I would think many collectors would be happy to display this great card as it is, since the border defects will not show if the card is framed.
