An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Rudyard Kipling's Wee Willie Winkie, the 1937 John Ford British-in-India juvenile war comedy ("Rudyard Kipling's thrill-packed adventure on India's untamed frontier!"; "The Untamed Barrier of the Khyber Pass"; loosely based on the story by Rudyard Kipling) starring Shirley Temple ("Marching in the plaid-clad ranks of the gallant Highlanders... full-fledged soldier of the Queen... idol of a thousand fighting men!"), Victor McLaglen ("Gruffest, toughest, bravest of the troops who hold the Khyber Pass against the raiding hordes of Khoda Kahn!"), C. Aubrey Smith, June Lang, Michael Whalen, Cesar Romero, Constance Collier, and Douglas Scott NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this a Leader Press one-sheet. Leader Press was a company in Oklahoma City that made its own posters for movies of the 1930s and 1940s, and it sent them to theaters throughout the Midwest! Leader Press posters are original posters that were made when the movies first came out. Condition: good. This poster was linenbacked, but it was either NOT linenbacked by a very talented restorer, OR it was linenbacked many years ago, and has received rough handling over the years, OR it had fairly major defects that were not restorated at all. If it was restored, you can clearly see signs of the restoration even from a distance. This is a poster that would greatly benefit from additional professional restoration. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had holes at the crossfolds and tears, creases, and darkening down the vertical foldline. The person who linenbacked the poster did little to improve these defects, and this is a poster that would benefit from additional restoration, or from being re-linenbacked.
