An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) It, the 1927 Clarence G. Badger silent romantic sex appeal comedy ("Story and adaptation by Elinor Glynn"; from the then-scandalous novel by Elinor Glyn; about a poor shopgirl who falls in love with her rich employer) starring Clara Bow, Antonio Moreno, William Austin, Gary Cooper (in a bit part as a reporter), and Priscilla Bonner. Note that this movie was not much different from Clara Bow's other movies of the time, but it had one of the all time great advertising campaigns ever for a single movie, where the "It" of the title referred to a sort of sex appeal, and the public was told that Clara Bow had more of "It" than any other actress, and they bought into that, and the movie was a huge success! This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Condition: good. The poster had pinholes, creases, tears, and some areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster and many stains, as well as some creases, smudges, scuffs, and a few pinholes scattered throughout the image. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was well backed by a talented restorer, who did a pretty nice job given how much restoration was required, but the poster has a "restored" look, and there is quite a bit of paint in the background and solid colored areas. Obviously, one would prefer to find an example of this window card that had no defects or restoration, but I do not know if another example of this card exists (or if it does, if the owner would consider parting with it!). This card displays pretty well, but you can clearly tell the card has had quite a bit of restoration. Learn More about condition grades
