Le Journal (literally translates to "The Journal") was a Paris, France daily newspaper published from 1892 to 1944. During World War I (WWI), the paper was at the center of an intrigue involving the German government which was alleged to be attempting to gain influence in France and promote pacifist propaganda by buying French newspapers.
Artist: Francisque Poulbot
Important Added Info: Note that this poster is promoting the serialization of Pierre Sales' novel "Elles Vont A L'Amour" (They Go For Love), which was published in the magazine. Poulbot's art shows a large crowd of "passion-hungry" women with eligible men in the clouds. Francisque Poulbot was greatly influenced by Theophile Steinlen, Henri-Gabriel Ibels, and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had some small paper loss at some crossfolds and some small tears and tiny paper loss on parts of several folds. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did little restoration to the defects described above.
