An Original Vintage Theatrical Spanish Movie Herald (measures 3 3/4" x 5 1/2" [10 x 14 cm]) (Learn More) Anna Karenina, the 1948 Julien Duvivier English Russia romantic adultery melodrama (produced by Alexander Korda; based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy) starring Vivien Leigh (in the title role as Anna Karenina), Ralph Richardson (as Alexei Karenin), Kieron Moore (as Count Vronsky), Sally Ann Howes ("by permission of the J. Arthur Rank Organisation"), and Niall MacGinnis. Note that there was an earlier version of this movie under the same name in 1935 starring Greta Garbo and Fredric March (and Garbo had previously played this same role in a silent version in 1927 re-titled "Love", and there had been eight earlier silent versions between 1910 and 1919!). But because a movie might play in Spain for a period of a year or two (traveling from theater to theater), there is no guarantee that the date overprinted on the back of the herald is the same as the date that the herald was first printed (and the date that the movie first played in Spain). Therefore, we don't list the date overprinted on the back of a herald as the date of the herald unless we know that was when the movie first played in Spain. If we believe the herald was printed earlier, then we use that date. If it is important to you that the date on the herald is the date the movie first opened, then please look at our image of the back of this herald to see if there is a different date printed on it. Condition: good. The herald is in pretty nice condition, but the printing from the back bleeds through in the light colored places in the front, which includes the stars' faces (see our images).
