An Original Vintage 7" x 9 1/4" [18 x 23 cm] Television Still (Learn More) Seven Against the Sea, the 1962 World War II (WWII) action melodrama television (TV) episode starring Ernest Borgnine (as Lt. Commander Quinton MacHale), William Bramley, Ron Foster, Steve Harris, Juan Hernandez, Gary Vinson, and Bobby Wright. Note that this was shown on the Alcoa Premiere weekly television series hosted by Fred Astaire. There is something incredibly cool about this episode of this series! Someone at ABC saw it and said, I think those U.S. Navy men (who were "pinned down on a Pacific Island surrounded by Japanese" in this show) would make the great basis for a comedy series, and they offered it to Ernest Borgnine, who accepted, and the show "McHale's Navy", which started six months later, carried over his character (with a tiny spelling change), but everyone else was recast, and of course, it was completely a screwball comedy, while this was a completely series show!
