An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Japanese "B2" Movie Poster (measures 20 1/4" x 28 5/8" [51 x 73 cm]) (Learn More) Hotaru no Haka (released in the U.S. in 1994 as "Grave of the Fireflies"), the 1988 Isao Takahata Japanese Studio Ghibli animation animated anime cartoon World War II (WWII) tragic family relationship melodrama (about a young brother and sister in Japan in the closing days of World War II; their mother is killed in a U.S. air raid, and their father is a Japanese soldier off at war, so they must rely on themselves to survive, with no money and no food; their only entertainment is the light of fireflies at night!) featuring the voices of Tsutomu Tatsumi, Ayano Shiraishi, Yoshiko Shinohara, and Akemi Yamaguchi. Note that this is one of the most highly regarded of the modern Japanese anime movies! If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster appears to be far more rare than those of the other Japanese anime movies of the same time period. We have only auctioned it once, and that was eight years ago! Note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this Japanese movie! The idea for this auction began when we were consigned a remarkable collection of original 1940s Walt Disney pressbooks, mini lobby cards, and standees (and almost all of those are extremely rare ones that are hardly ever auctioned, and they almost all are in really nice condition). Once we knew we had those items, we contacted all our past consignors, and asked them to consign to this very special auction, and they REALLY came through, consigning a wonderful assortment of cartoon movie paper of all sorts. Buying from this special auction gives you an incredibly rare opportunity to obtain some of the finest cartoon animation movie paper we have ever seen, and all of them will have new owners when these auctions close, because all start at $1 with no reserve.
