An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 10" x 17" [25 x 43 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More) Dangerous Money, the 1946 Terry O. Morse mystery crime thriller ("Suggested by Earl Derr Biggers' character") starring Sidney Toler ("as Charlie Chan"), Victor Sen Yung (billed as "Victor Sen Young"), Rick Vallin, Joseph Crehan, Willie Best, and Gloria Warren. Note that the very first Charlie Chan movie was "House Without a Key" in 1925, with George Kuwa as Chan. In 1927, "The Chinese Parrot" (directed by Paul Leni) starred Sojin Kamiyama as Chan. In 1929 came the third movie, "Behind That Curtain", starring E.L. Park as Charlie Chan. 1931 brought "Charlie Chan Carries On", starring Warner Oland in the first of many movies with him as the Asian detective, and he was later replaced by Sidney Toler and then Roland Winters (there would ultimately be 47 Charlie Chan movies!). Of course, Charlie Chan is one of the most memorable literary creations ever, from author Earl Derr Biggers, but because politically correct-minded people have viewed the character as outdated, the movies are rarely shown, which is a shame! Note that this item has been trimmed and it now measures 10" x 17" [25 x 43 cm]. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Finally, note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!
