Opland created many posters for the Dutch peace movement, and this poster was in response to the NATO Double-Track Decision, which was the decision of NATO to offer the Warsaw Pact (a collective defense treaty signed in Warsaw by the Soviet Union and several Soviet satellite states) a mutual limitation of certain types of ballistic missiles, combined with the threat that in case of disagreement, NATO would deploy more middle-range nuclear weapons in Western Europe.
