A Folded Special Poster (measures 28" x 41" [71 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) James Dean was the legendary actor who burst to fame in the mid-1950s with starring roles in East Of Eden (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Giant (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), and Rebel Without a Cause. He died in a tragic car wreck in 1955 at the age of 24 before Giant was released, but his fame remains undiminished to this day! If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that in 1955 the Motion Picture Theater Owners’ Organization conceived of a new film award and they sent out polls to audiences in over 8,000 theaters voting for categories such as Best Actor and Best Film of the Year (for movies released prior to September 30th of that year). The polled audience selected James Dean as Best Actor of the Year for his performance in East of Eden (beating well-known and established actors including Marlon Brando and Jimmy Stewart). His posthumous award was accepted by Natalie Wood on his behalf. The poster offered here commemorates the award and was used for advertising movies that Dean starred in (especially Rebel Without a Cause which was released shortly before the film awards were decided). We have NEVER auctioned this poster before! Condition: good. The poster has light rippling scattered throughout (more so around the edges and along some folds) with a few small patches of slight discoloration (see our image). There is some ink transfer staining. After linenbacking the very rare poster should display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and see our super-sized image before bidding on it.
