He first started performing in 1940 (after having spent time as a boxer name "Kid Crochett"), but it was not until 1943 that he started getting nationally noticed. Interestingly, an article from 1944 called him "a threat to Frank Sinatra" and that he was "surefire for stage, screen, or radio". Of course, later he was a member of the Rat Pack with Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., and Peter Lawford. He was partnered with Jerry Lewis in live performances and in a series of memorable movies until they had a very publicized break-up, after which each had long solo careers. Some of his movies include: Rio Bravo, The Silencers, The Young Lions, and Some Came Running. Martin passed away in 1995 at the age of 78. Important Added Info: SUPER IMPORTANT! THOUGH ONLY EIGHT OF THE STILLS ARE PICTURED, THE HIGH BIDDER ON THIS LOT WILL RECEIVE 15 STILLS FROM THIS MOVIE (but realize that on some of these lots with 9 or more stills there may be a few duplicates, mostly on post-1960 lots)! We realize there is an element of gambling to this, but we made only a small effort to find the best stills in these lots, and, if you have any willingness to gamble at all, you may find that you get some great stills that were not pictured! Please do NOT bid on this lot unless you can accept that you are only seeing eight of the stills. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
