An Original Vintage Folded Special Movie Poster (measures 28" x 42 1/4" [71 x 107 cm]) (Learn More) Democracy in Education, the 1919 silent documentary short ("produced by Ford Motion Picture Laboratories"). The short was created right after the end of World War I, stressing the importance of teaching American children about democracy, so that if America had to fight in another war, the children would know what values they were fighting for! Apparently this was one of a series of shorts produced by the Ford Motor Company under the title of "Ford Educational Weekly", but surely next to no posters from any of these shorts survive! This is the only poster from this series we have auctioned, and there is an oddity to the poster. It was originally printed with "Released through Goldwyn" on it, but the "Goldwyn" was overprinted with "Fitzpatrick and McElroy" and we don't know if that is because Goldwyn originally intended to distribute it, but never did, and the posters were changed at the last minute, or if there is a different explanation. If anyone knows more about this short or this series, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. There is overprinting on the poster (see above). It was mostly separated on the middle fold, and someone put tape on the back of that area. It has tears and smudges around the edges with pinholes in the corners and paper loss in the top corners and in the center of the top border. After a pretty simple linenbacking the poster will look fantastic. Learn More about condition grades
