An Original Vintage Theatrical Spanish Movie Herald (measures 3 3/4" x 6" [10 x 15 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) The Black Cat, the classic 1934 Edgar Ulmer Universal horror thriller ("Based on a story by Edgar Allan Poe"; "Things you never saw before or ever dreamed of!"; the ads said "based on the Edgar Allan Poe story", but it is very loosely based on it!; Karloff and Lugosi are arch enemies who meet again after many years, and there is a honeymooning couple who is marooned at Karloff's creepy castle, and Lugosi tries to rescue them and get revenge on his old enemy, and meanwhile, there is Satanic worship and black cats roaming the place, and all kinds of weird stuff that you need to see for yourself!) starring Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, David Manners, Julie Bishop (billed as "Jacqueline Wells"), Lucille Lund, Luis Alberni, and Henry Armetta NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this Spanish herald! Based on the printing on the inside, which says (translated) "The sensation of the 1934-1935 season", we would imagine the movie likely opened in Spain around Christmas of 1934, which would explain why it would talk about "1934-1935". We feel certain this is the first release herald. Also note that when Spanish heralds have printing on the back, we picture both sides, but when they are blank on the back, we only picture the front. Note that this is one of a remarkable collection of 44 Spanish heralds we were consigned from a man who collected them over many DECADES! He was able to track down some extremely rare titles, including some we have never auctioned before, and many of these heralds in excellent condition.
