An Original Vintage Autographed Book Page (measures 10" x 13 1/2" [25 x 34 cm]) (Learn More)

Jetta Goudal (born Julie Henriette Goudeket) was a Dutch actress from the 1920s to the 1930s. She was Dutch and Jewish, but when she came to America in 1918, she pretended to be French, and immediately had success on Broadway. That attracted the attention of Cecil B. DeMille, who hired her to make movies, but they clashed repeatedly, and in 1927, DeMille terminated her, and she sued him, and she won the suit, which was a first for an actor, and she continued to fight for actors' rights, which gave her the nickname "The Joan of Arc of Equity". Unfortunately, she had a thick accent, and the coming of sound ended her career. She married an art director in 1930 and retired. Some of her movies include The Green Goddess, The Road to Yesterday, and The Forbidden Woman. She passed away in 1985 at the age of 93.
Important Added Info: Note that this book page has been personally autographed (signed) by Jetta Goudal! Also note that this page was removed from a 1928 Spanish book called Album de Cinelandia. An autograph collector, Frank M. Flack, acquired this book in the early 1970s, and he separated the pages, and made an effort to get autographs from as many of the people pictured in the book as possible, and he ended up with 14 of them, and we are currently auctioning those 14 (in 14 separate auctions). Some of them are personalized to him. Our consignor does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we feel certain the signatures are authentic.

Condition: very good. The page was removed from the book called Album de Cinelandia. Otherwise, it is in nice condition (see our image).
