An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Madison Square Garden, the 1932 Harry Joe Brown New York City boxing crooked sports promoters gambling melodrama (about the famous New York City arena, which had been built in 1925) starring Jack Oakie, Thomas Meighan, Marian Nixon, Zasu Pitts, William Collier Sr., William 'Stage' Boyd, and Lew Cody. Note that this movie included cameo performances by top athletes of the day including Jack Johnson, and also by legendary sports reporters including Damon Runyon and Grantland Rice! Note that the very first Madison Square was an actual park in New York City at Fifth Avenue, Broadway, and 23rd Street. In 1879, the first "Madison Square Garden" was built and used by P.T. Barnum. In 1890, it was torn down, and a new one was built with a much more lavish structure, and it was 32 stories high and its main hall was then the largest one in the world. It was torn down in 1925. At that point, the third Madison Square Garden (the one seen in this movie) was built on Eighth Avenue, between 49th and 50th Streets. The fourth and current Madison Square Garden was built on the top of Pennsylvania Station in 1968, at which point the third version was torn down!
