An Autographed 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] REPRODUCTION Still (Learn More) James Ellison was an actor from the 1930s to the 1960s. He had a major role as Buffalo Bill Cody in Cecil B. DeMille's The Plainsman, but afterwards, he mostly appeared in B-westerns. Interestingly, no doubt because he had such a promising start, he was equally billed with William Boyd in the first six Hopalong Cassidy movies! He was replaced in the series by Russell Hayden in the Hopalong Cassidy series, and then, in an unusual twist, Ellison and Hayden co-starred together in a series of 6 B-westerns, where Ellison was billed as Jimmy 'Shamrock' Ellison (after his character). After he retired from movies, he had a successful career as a real estate agent. He passed away in 1993 at the age of 83. Important Added Info: Note that this REPRODUCTION still has been personally autographed (signed) by James Ellison! Also note that many celebrities kept multiple 8" x 10" (or smaller) copies of good publicity images of themselves to sign for fans, and also many memorabilia shops sold such copy stills themselves. While they are not original theater-used stills, they are usually excellent clear copies, with a great shot of that celebrity in their heyday, which, when signed by the celebrity, makes for a wonderful framed picture on any fan's wall! The consignor of this autographed item (and a number of other signed items in this auction) is a longtime autograph collector who does not have a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) for this item, but he feels certain it is genuine. Many of the items he has consigned were purchased from an autograph store that was going out of business when the owner retired, and many of the items he has consigned to this set of auctions come from this purchase.
