Date Sold 1/18/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage French Cigarette Crate Label (measures 7 1/2" x 13" [19 x 33 cm]) (Learn More) Le Nil (literally translates to "The Nile") was a French cigarette paper company which was created in 1845 by Joseph Bardou. Originally titled JOB, the company was renamed in the 1870s to Le Nil after the Nile river in Egypt, and adopted the tagline "Je Ne Fume Que Le Nil" ("I only smoke The Nile"). Artist: d'apres Leonetto Cappiello Important Added Info: Note that this is likely some kind of printer's proof for a crate label. We say this because it is printed entirely backwards, and we don't really know why. It is on a thin paper just like what a large crate label would be printed on. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Please do not bid on this unless you can accept the uncertainty of what it is or when it is from. Condition: good to very good. The label is lightly rippled throughout. Learn More about condition grades
