An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14") (Learn More)

Rage, the 1927 silent German Shepherd canine dog crime action melodrama short starring Eileen Sedgewick, and "Lightnin'" (the Police Dog). Note that Lightnin' The Police Dog apparently appeared in 12 shorts between 1924 and 1927, but we have only seen one-sheets on some of them (not surprising, because very few theaters would have ordered one-sheets for shorts by the mid 1920s!). Apparently in 1927, some enterprising distributor re-edited the 12 short films into a single serial, called "The Spider's Net", and released that to theaters (one possibility for why this occurred might be that Gary Cooper had had a role in one of the shorts, which let them advertise it as a "Gary Cooper" serial!). But we have never seen any advertising on "The Spider's Net". Finally, note that there was a later canine movie star named "Lightning" (not "Lightnin'"), who appeared in 8 movies between 1934 and 1937 (and the two dogs get confused in some databases). You can see a short featuring Lightnin' at this Youtube link. If anyone knows more about any of these movies or Lightnin' The Police Dog, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Important Added Info: Note that this card has what appear to be smudges or scuffs in the middle right, but this is in the printing! In the actual scene in the movie, the two stars at left were holding guns, but apparently this was too violent for the censors, so the printer edited out the guns before printing the cards, but it is still slightly visible on close inspection!

Condition: good to very good. There is ink staining on the back of the upper right of the card, extending across the edge of the top and right borders, but it only bleeds through to the front in a tiny area in the edge of the right blank border. There are a few tiny brown circular stains around the edges of the image. Otherwise, the card is in pretty good condition! Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
