Ramona, the 1928 Edwin Carewe south-of-the-border Native American Indian interracial romance romantic cowboy western ("The Best Selling Romance of all Time!"; "Mrs. Helen Hunt Jackson's Indian classic of early California"; "Helen Hunt Jackson's American Love Classic"; about a pretty female orphan who is taken in by a rich California sheep rancher, and she falls in love with his grandson, but he can't marry her because she is a "half-breed", so she marries a Native American, played by Warner Baxter, and her husband is lynched, and her baby dies because the white doctor won't treat Indians, but in the end, the grandson rescues her) starring Dolores Del Rio (in the title role as Ramona), ("supported by") Warner Baxter, Vera Lewis, Roland Drew, Michael Visaroff, and Rita Carewe (director Edwin Carewe's daughter). Note that this movie was remade in 1931 with Loretta Young and Don Ameche. He won the Oscar for Best Actor as The Cisco Kid in "In Old Arizona" in 1929, and he remained a top star throughout the 1930s!
