An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) Search for Beauty, the 1934 Erle C. Kenton romantic crime swindler melodrama (a wacky story of a couple who are recruited by crooks to publish a health magazine and also start a health farm, and the crooks try to advertise both with racy pictures of men and women, but the couple make a legitimate resort out of it, and ultimately, the crooks go to jail, and the couple finds love and success) starring Buster Crabbe (billed as "Larry 'Buster' Crabbe"), Ida Lupino, Robert Armstrong, James Gleason, Roscoe Karns, Toby Wing, Gertrude Michael, Monya Andre, and William Bailey, with the "30 International Beauty Contest Winners" (one is Ann Sheridan, uncredited in her 2nd role). Note that one of the key plot points involves the couple running the health farm inviting 30 beauty contest winners to stay there (to get other people to want to go), and among those 30 actors was Ann Sheridan (in her first movie appearance). Apparently, the producers also wanted Sally Rand, the fan dancer, to be one of the contest winners, but she did not make the final cut of the movie. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. The card had pinholes, creases, tears, and some areas of paper loss around the edges of the card and some creases, smudges, scuffs, and a few pinholes scattered throughout the image. Overall, the card was in fair to good condition prior to paperbacking. The card was well backed by a talented restorer, who did not touch up many of the faint smudges and scuffs (and I agree with that decision, because to do so would have required lots of paint, which would have given the card a "heavily restored" look, and I don't feel the smudges and scuffs are all that distracting, and they help establish that this is a genuine 77 year-old original window card!). Obviously, one would prefer to find an example of this window card that had no defects or restoration, but I do not know if another example of this card exists (or if it does, if the owner would consider parting with it!). This card has had expert restoration and displays nicely. Learn More about condition grades
