eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 2f460 SILENT NIGHT EVIL NIGHT pressbook '75 this gruesome image will surely make your skin crawl! Date Sold 4/1/2010Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 11" x 14"; 12 pages). Also included is an ad supplement that has 4 pages (Learn More) Black Christmas (released in the U.S. in 1975 as "Silent Night - Evil Night"), the 1974 Bob Clark Canadian Christmas horror thriller ("If this picture doesn't make your skin crawl... It's on Too Tight!"; "Christmas is coming early this year. And it's murder."; "Black Christmas will rock you too!") starring Olivia Hussey, Keir Dullea, Margot Kidder, John Saxon ("as Lt. Fuller"), Marian Waldman, Lynne Griffin, Art Hindle, Doug McGrath, Nick Mancuso, and Julian Reid. Note that this film was planned to be released in the U.S. as Black Christmas (as it was in Canada), but studio execs thought that title might cause people to think it was a blaxploitation film, so it was changed to Silent Night Evil Night. However, during the continuous first release, the title was changed back to Black Christmas in some U.S. areas, sometimes as a double-bill with a blaxploitation movie (which was likely intentionally deceptive)! We have seen two one-sheet posters that have Black Christmas printed on them, as well as a herald and pressbooks, but otherwise all of the U.S. posters of all different sizes have the Silent Night Evil Night title (although many of them have Black Christmas snipes over the U.S. title). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Robert Tanenbaum Important Added Info: Note that we have seen many posters from this movie with a snipe that reads "Black Christmas" glued over the original title, but we have never seen any actual printed material with the title "Black Christmas" other than the herald and pressbook. If anyone HAS seen any other printed material with this title, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that we have provided an image of the front, back, and fully opened interior of the herlald, but of course, the winner of this auction will receive the single herald we are selling! Note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of the pressbook, plus an image of an inside spread, but of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are selling (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Finally, note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: very good to fine, NO CUTS. Learn More about condition grades
