Date Sold 9/17/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 9 Original 1990 (from the first release of this movie in France) Vintage Theatrical French Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 12" x 16" [30 x 41 cm]) (Learn More) Driving Miss Daisy, the 1989 Bruce Beresford old-distinguished-southern-white-lady-and-her-long-time-black-chauffer race relations melodrama ("The Comedy That Won A Pulitzer Prize."; "The funny, touching and totally irresistible story of a working relationship that became a 25-year friendship."; "Screenplay by Alfred Uhry, based on his play"; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award; about a rich Jewish woman who eventually befriends her African American driver) starring Morgan Freeman (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Jessica Tandy (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Daisy Werthan), Dan Aykroyd (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Patti Lupone, and Esther Rolle. Note that this movie is remarkably similar to the 1973 Alan Bridges English movie, The Hireling, starring Robert Shaw and Sarah Miles. That movie was based on a novel by L.P. Hartley, and this movie does not in any way credit that movie, so we suppose that Alfred Uhry, who wrote the play this movie is based on, was "inspired" by that earlier movie, but that there were enough differences between the two to prevent a lawsuit. In addition, the posters for the two movies are very similar in design, but we would think that any movie about a chauffeur would tend to show him in a rear view mirror with the person he is driving, so that is not surprising! Important Added Info: Note that one of these cards is a duplicate, so the winner receives eight different cards, plus one duplicated card (see our images). Note that these French lobby cards measure 12" x 16" [30 x 41 cm]. Condition: very good. A few of the cards have clear tape in the corners where they were attached to something.
