August Richard 'Gus' Suhr was a professional sports baseball player from the 1930s to the 1940s, playing for the Pittsburgh Pirates (later the Phillies) as first basemen. He was selected for the 1936 A--Star game, and had a National League record streak of 822 games played. That record lasted until 1957! Suhr passed away in 2004 at the age of 98.
