A Limited Edition Art Print (with art by Tyler Stout; 267/635; measures 24" x 36" [61 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, the 1982 Nicholas Meyer science fiction (sci-fi) outer space adventure sequel ("At the end of the universe lies the beginning of vengeance."; "Based on Star Trek Created by Gene Roddenberry") starring William Shatner (as Captain James T. Kirk), Leonard Nimoy (as Spock), DeForest Kelley (as McCoy), James Doohan (as Scotty), Walter Koenig (as Chekov), George Takei (as Sulu), Nichelle Nichols (as Uhura), Bibi Besch, Paul Winfield ("as Terrell"), Kirstie Alley (billed as "introducing Kirstie Alley as Savvik"), and Ricardo Montalban (in the title role; billed as "starring Ricardo Montalban as Khan"). Note that the Star Trek TV show went off the air in 1969, with a cult following, but without a lot of general success. But there was enough interest built up over the following years that Star Trek: The Motion Picture was made in 1979. While the movie did well at the box office, it was not critically well received, and it looked like that might have been the end of the franchise, but then Nicholas Meyer wrote and directed this sequel, which was a giant critical and commercial success, and led to all the many sequels and spin-offs in the years since! Tim League, the consignor of all the prints in the 2,346 auctions (see below), knows that there will be a LOT of competition for some of the prints, and he wanted to give bidders a second chance to get some of the more desirable ones! So, on the 293 auctions that have this paragraph on them, it means that they are prints where there is an earlier auction for a different example of this print (and that earlier auction will have almost surely already ended BEFORE this auction), and this way, those bidders who "missed out" on the earlier example have this second chance to get this different example (but of course, they are not exactly the same, and the earlier example has a lower number)! An important note about the condition of the print in this auction (or, in the case of 25 of the auctions, prints). It comes from the personal collection of Tim League, and it has been carefully stored since it was first printed. In the case of all but 46 of the 2,344 of the prints, it is in wonderful condition, and likely looks exactly as it did when it was printed, and we give all those our "fine" grade, which is the highest grade we give (and which equates to most dealers' "mint" grade). In the case of a very small number of the prints (46 in all!), it acquired one or more defects, and in those cases we give it a lower grade, and explain in words what those defects are.
